Strong Eyed vs Loose Eyed Dogs
June 15th, 2010
A strong eyed dog works with his eyes on the cattle at all times. A srong eyed dog tends to work close to cattle when starting out.
A strong eyed dog can sometimes move cattle without biting them. It is best of course if he will bite when needed though. Occasionally a strong eyed dog will be sticky.
A loose eyed dog often takes his eye off of stock or appears to be not paying as much attention as a strong eyed dog.
Either type of dog can make an excellent cowdog. Some folks prefer a strong eyed dog while others don't really care either way.
